Penpa Tsering was born in Jangthang Chumur, Ladakh in 1978. He did my schooling from TCV Ladakh till class 10. His interest in dance and music drew him to get admission in Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Dharamsala. Accordingly, he was in the institute for three years from 1996. He joined the institute to do diploma in instructor course in traditional Tibetan dance and music and Opera.
He got first division in the diploma course. After the completion of the course, he has been teaching as a dance and music teacher at the TCV school in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamsala, since August 1999.
His first album called Shey dhay, Kyipo (Peace and happiness) was released in 2004. The album did quite well in sales and was loved by the public. Presently he is working on his second album.
He has performed at a few Tibetan settlements, such as, Bylakuppe, Hunsur, Kollegal, Mundgod and Ladakh, apart from Dharamsala.
