Nobel Peace celebration in CanadaMCLEOD GANJ, India, 15 December 2006 Tibetan, Nepalese and American artistes performed in a concert in Toronto to celebrate the 10 December International Human Rights day and the 17th anniversary of the conferment of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Dalai Lama. Amchok Gonpo Dhondup, Penpa Tsering (Bhumo Gyakpa) and Tsering Gyurme were the Tibetan artistes performed in a packed OISE Auditorium in Toronto on 8 December. Top Nepalese artistes Raju Lama, Nima Rumba, and the rising star Mingma Sherpa and female singer Sindhu Malla were also among the performers. Amilia Rubin, an American human rights activist from New York, surprised the audience performing with a Dranyen (a guitar-like Tibetan instrument). The show was organised by Toronto based Sonam Entertainment, which has planned concerts in India during 2007 Losar, the Tibetan New Year. Report received via email
