Losar mega show in BylakuppeDELHI, India, 16 February 2007 — Gonpo Entertainment is organising yet another mega show in Bylakuppe to celebrate Losar, the 2134 fire pig Tibetan New Year, coinciding with 18 February 2007. The concert will be held on the day two of Losar at the YMCA ground from 6:30 pm. “Our main focus in this year’s concert will be on a competition of cultural performances by Tibetan college students’ from Bangalore, Mysore and Chennai,” Gonpo, the proprietor of Gonpo Entertainment, said. A fashion show by designer Kelsang Tsomo will be another highlight of the concert. Miss Tibet 2006 Tsering Chungtak will have a special appearance in the show. The current musical heartthrob Phurbu T. Namgyal will present a few songs from his lastest Album Gapoe tam (Love story). Duo Sonam and Lhundup of Thuk je katrin are also lined up for the show. Stand-up comedian Pa Tsering will be presenting some of his latest comedy items. There will be a special performance by Phil Void, leader of the Dharma Bums, presenting his Tibetan anthem Rangzen! Free Tibet! Mangalore college group dropped out from the competition at the last moment due to time constraints. The winning team will be awarded a cash prize of rupees 50,000.00. All three groups, however, will receive an honorarium of Indian Rupees 25,000.00 each. The concert is partly sponsored by TVS Motors, Kingfisher and the Government of Karnataka. This will be Gonpo Entertainment’s fourth successive concert in Bylakuppe during Losar. “I have wanted to create an inter-college Tibetan student’s cultural competition for a long time. I am happy that I am able to put this together this year. I hope people will enjoy the show.” |
