The Red Hot Chili Peppers will follow up their double dates at the two-weekend Coachella festival in California by performing for Buddhist leader the Dalai Lama in Oregon.

The group will support His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as part of the 11 May spectacular aimed at inspiring "future generations to care for our planet."

The concert will take place at the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers closed the first of two Coachella weekends on Sunday night (14 April); the group will return to Indio this weekend (21 April) to perform a second set. They have also been confirmed to perform at this year's Outside Lands festival in San Francisco alongside Sir Paul McCartney, Phoenix, and Nine Inch Nails.
